"Hear What The Spirit Is Saying . . . "
I'm posting this for those who regularly, even daily, read and enjoy their time with God in Scripture; and for those who sometimes, yes more often simply put-off, and rationalize putting-off reading the Bible, God speaking to us, His LoveLetter to us. This may not send you latter folks tearing to the bottom dressser drawer to retrieve your Confirmation Gift Copy, but maybe, just maybe I can make you abit uneasy when you "rationalize putting-off . . . " or, better yet, I invite you into the circle of readers and lovers of God's Word(s) to you and me.
This morning, as we do nearly every morning around 7:30 a.m., Susanne and I shared the pre-breakfast half-hour or so reading from Scripture, 3 chosen devotionals and ending with each of us offering our personal prayers, as the Spirit moves. Susanne almost always closes this time and her prayers with, "And we thank you Lord, always, for the indwelling of your Holy Spirit. AMEN."
This morning, just before her "closer," the Spirit and she teamed-up to utter this beautiful, graphic, tender prayer of Thanksgiving and Affirmation: "Thank You, Lord, for your Word in Scripture that stitches together our day, begining to end of day." . . . "And we thank you Lord, always, for the indwelling of your Holy Spirit. AMEN."
A day, such as the Spirit inspired and Susanne envisioned, will not fray nor become fretted or unravelled when stitched and hemmed all 'round by God's Word to us in Scripture.
"Hear What The Spirit Is Saying To God's People." And God's people all said, "AMEN."
